Stories & Testimonies

“When I attended PALM’s leadership training in Cairo, God gave me a clear vision to reach my people from Darfur. I returned with a burden to disciple others, and I began gathering BMB believers to form what became the Darfuri Christian Community. When the civil war broke out, I was forced to flee and seek refuge in South Sudan. Even in displacement, the vision never left me. In Juba, I gathered 21 home-church leaders from our Sudanese communities and led them through the same leadership training I had received. God is using this training to strengthen our people wherever we are scattered.”

“I first joined a PALM discipleship group as a young believer, and it completely changed my walk with God. The teaching helped me grow deeply in Scripture, and I discovered gifts I didn’t know I had.

Now I am enthusiastically leading my own group, and by God’s grace we have already seen seven new believers come to Christ. Watching others grow the way I did has strengthened my faith even more.

This discipleship isn’t just for me—it’s equipping me to raise up others who will also disciple and lead.”

“Learning how to lead a church well in community, for the glory of Christ, is critical to the church and for leaders. …I really appreciated the topic of church discipline. The fact that it included examples and illustrations to help allows me to understand and immediately apply it when I return to my church. This training conference was very different from others. It was directed, fascinating, and immediately applicable.”

“I always felt uncertain whether I was allowed to teach or lead. This course gave me clarity and confidence. I now see that God uses all His children. I will no longer hide the gift He gave me.”

“I love your discipleship program! When I became a believer, your course gave me the tools to go directly to the scriptures to find answers rather than depend on explanations from Christian experts. I want other believers to have access to these same tools. This is a great training program for church planting in remote areas in our context.”

“I returned home a different person. My relationship with God has been renewed, and my love for people has grown. Before the training, I had lost trust that God had a plan for my life. Now I am full of hope and confidence in Him, even though my circumstances haven’t changed.”

A Believer from the Gulf Region who attended our discipleship school

“I used to think leadership was about making decisions and being right.

Now I see it’s about listening, guiding, and even serving coffee if needed. Jesus washed feet—so I want to start there.”

“The training was not just theoretical information but a practical experience that personally inspired me and deepened my understanding of leadership concepts in a comprehensive way. One of the aspects I particularly benefited from was the conflict resolution techniques I learned… Additionally, understanding personality types has helped me interact with others more effectively, enhancing both my personal and professional relationships. I also gained valuable insights into self-awareness and identifying my strengths and weaknesses…”.

“I have been following Christ for three years, but only recently did I begin to understand what true discipleship means. Before this training, most of what I knew came from evangelism schools. I learned how to proclaim the gospel and how to speak boldly—and that is good. But I didn’t yet know how to live as a disciple.

Through this program, God opened my eyes. I am not only learning the Word of God—I am learning how to walk in it. I used to think discipleship was just evangelism, but now I see it is a whole way of life: walking in the light, growing in faith, and letting the Word shape my heart.

I feel like a plant finding water in a dry place—stronger, deeper, and steadier than before. I want to keep learning, and I want to share what I’m learning with others, because we need this so much. This training has changed me, and I know it will help me help others grow too.”
